Our client, a leading investment bank, is looking to hire a Programmer Analyst. This role sits within the Ambition team, which is focused on driving business transformation initiatives that will mature the bank's platform and promote a higher level of stability and sustainability across the organization. In order to deliver these initiatives, the team will partner closely with various functional teams such as Finance, Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Technology, etc. The Ambition team’s responsibilities are broad and diverse, spanning areas such as Process Re-engineering (optimization/automation), Data Governance, Technology Enhancements, and Risk Anticipation.

Working alongside the team’s project management, stakeholders and business line functions, this hands-on position will play an integral role in the rationalization, validation, design, creation and support of the firm’s tools and processes. The Programmer Analyst will be tasked with driving business process improvement initiatives and objectives; this will include solutions design and implementation, KPI definition and tracking, stakeholder management, etc.
The successful candidate must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, technical aptitude (can vary), and the ability to effectively navigate and build strong working relationships across various business groups and subject matter experts.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Conduct interviews, document analysis and manage workshops with business representatives and subject matter experts across various internal teams
  • Capture business function and design requirements for technical implementation; Effectively present optimal solutions to management team for decision
  • Drive successful delivery and implementation of optimal solutions, including design and programming of low code solutions (e.g. Alteryx, Duco, etc.)
  • Act as a link between the business groups and Technology teams during the process design, build, and roll-out phases
  • Help to frame and monitor key performance metrics
  • Effectively manage and assess impacts, risks and/or dependencies across critical work-streams

Required education and/or experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, MIS, data analytics, mathematics or related field preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience in large data projects or the Financial Services industry, specifically within Operational Risk, Finance, Business Management, Audit, Compliance or other controls related areas
  • Robust experience working with and analyzing large data sets in a database environment
  • 5+ years of experience working low code automation capabilities and a deep understating of low code implementation lifecycle
  • Experience in designing, architecting, and optimizing decisions models specifically for implementation
  • Must have expertise of process improvement and process re-engineering frameworks
  • Experience with software or product delivery in an Agile cross-functional team environment
  • Experience as a full-stack software developer or development using an industry-leading low code
  • platform (Alteryx, Duco, Appian, Robotics Process Automation) strongly preferred
  • Flexibility to change direction, iterate, and adopt new technologies to solution requirements
  • Must be technically conversational; able to train clients on the selected tool/solutions, and participate in solution ideation and development
  • Experience working with appropriate programming languages, operating systems and software
Training/skills required: 

  • Technical understanding of data extraction, transformation and load processing (ETL) and familiarity using products such as Alteryx Designer, Tableau, etc.
  • Strong working knowledge of project management frameworks and tools (primarily Agile methodologies)
  • Ability to deconstruct complex processes and information into subcomponent parts and “connect-the-dots” across functional teams
  • Inquisitive and comfortable challenging current practices
  • Process modelling, decisions modelling, optimization of process models, simulations and prototyping
  • Ability to hold and independently drive stakeholder and working group conversations on project
  • Robust analytical and problem solving skills for design, creation and testing of programs
  • Exceptional project management and communication skills to work effectively with team members, support personnel, and clients across all levels of an organization
  • Willingness and desire to be hands-on and code alongside the development teams
