    We are currently recruiting a Fiber Optics Design Engineer for their Energy business group, to be based in Houston, TX.  

    This role will generate and review designs, conduct design analysis (FEA &CFD)  develop design standards and procedures, provide technical guidance and support for customers.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    Design work, including – calculations, material recommendations, drawings, design proposal, for custom products, supporting our Incremental Business & New Product Development
    Support Sales team by providing input on pre-inquiry technical feasibility and engage in customer conversations to ensure alignment with our capabilities to drive timely delivery of solution to customer
    Support Performance problems related to optical communication or mechanical issues w/ product. These requests will require coordinating with the Global Energy engineering team as well as cross functionally (Manufacturing, Quality, Testing, etc) to drive resolution.
    Own Engineering activity related to NPD projects for Fiber and ensure create testing protocols and procedures with Lab Personnel
    Engagement in Fiber Optics industry groups/meetings and develop a method for regularly disseminating relevant subject matter internally to Greene Tweed Engineering and Commercial teams.

    Education:       B.S in Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Fiber Optics preferred)

    Experience:   Fiber Optics knowledge and Mechanical Design experience in progressively responsible Engineering roles in a related industry, proven CAD skills (solidworks) for both New Product Development (NPD) and the re-engineering of exisiting products for improved performance and/or improved manufacturing

    Expertise in Fiber Optics/Design 
    Exhibit an urgent work style, the ability to work with progressively less guidance supervision and make decisions in a timely manner. Good communication skills for interface with internal and external contacts.  Creativity and flexibility to handle new challenges. Proficiency in Solidworks preferable
