    SUMMARY
    The Manager of Digital Subscriptions and Consumer Marketing develops, executes, and coordinates, marketing efforts that support overarching Digital Subscription Service and Product Marketing priorities. The primary aim of these efforts will be to identify areas of opportunity and execute projects to drive consumer growth, retention, and engagement across platforms. Acquisition and retention of consumers will occur through paid campaigns, email-based programs, company website and mobile apps.

    This position works with the Director of Consumer Acquisition and Retention to develop strategies to drive consumer growth and achieve key business goals. This position also manages the development & execution of innovative marketing campaigns to acquire and retain consumers, from planning through implementation, optimization, and documented measurement of impact based on business KPIs.


    PRINCIPAL DUTIES
    1. Partners with the Director of Consumer Acquisition and Retention to develop consumer growth marketing strategies across all company platforms to achieve key business goals
    2. Manages user acquisition and retention for App, a manga (Japanese comics) Digital Subscription Service
    3. Leads collaborations with the Product Marketing Team to determine campaign and/or growth goals to be accomplished through email programs, company website and mobile apps
    4. Leads the optimization and delivery on marketing KPIs, including Digital Subscription Service cost per acquisition targets, as defined by the business
    5. Manages, schedules and optimizes app messaging, including onboarding, retention and retargeting efforts
    6. Performs analyses of specific marketing initiatives and prepares reports to interpret results and refine strategy as needed
    7. Manages calendar/plans of growth marketing efforts that creatively leverage available resources, including companies large network inventory, paid media, and other vehicles
    8. Oversees and controls email growth marketing lists. Supports the Digital Subscription Service and Product Marketing teams in email creation, as needed
    9. Advocates the creation and activation of marketing assets for paid campaigns, company website and apps and newsletters
    10. Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas outside the Marketing team, including but not limited to Licensing, Digital Magazine, Creative, Publishing, Animation and Engineering departments to execute specific marketing plans


    In addition to these responsibilities, performs other activities as assigned

    MINIMUM ABILITY, SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
    • Experience with digital subscription acquisition and retention, or relevant experience, a MUST
    • Experience with Apps STRONGLY PREFERRED
    • Strong analytic and organizational skills, especially in assessing campaign and promotion performance, identifying consumer behavior, and managing cost per acquisition targets, or relevant experience, A MUST
    • Demonstrated past success in ownership of marketing campaigns from design to execution to reporting a MUST
    • MUST be able to travel as needed
    • Professional understanding of the publishing and/or entertainment market targeted at children, preteens and/or teens STRONGLY

    PREFERRED
    • Knowledge of consumer entertainment such as anime, manga, comics and/or games PREFERRED
    • Knowledge of graphic design programs, specifically Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop) a PLUS
    • Familiarity with online media and content management systems a PLUS
    • Proficiency with Mac operating systems
    • Proficiency with standard productivity programs such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Proficiency with computer usage, including email, Internet, and standard software
    • Ability to speak, read, and write effectively in English
    • Ability to pay strong attention to detail
    • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously
    • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
    • Ability to communicate and interact professionally with culturally diverse clients, providers, and staff
    • Ability to work effectively in a small organization with an emphasis on teamwork
    • Ability to work legally in the United States
    • Ability to live in/commute to the San Francisco Bay Area


    MINIMUM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant business experience
    • Prior experience in building, executing, and reporting on comprehensive multi-channel marketing campaigns, preferably in the publishing and/or entertainment industry STRONGLY PREFERRED
    • Equivalent of Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position


    WORKING ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
    Approximately 90% of time spent on the job involves use of a video display terminal; therefore, must be able to sit for extended periods and to utilize standard ergonomics practices. Primarily works in an office environment, requiring the following activity: lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 15 pounds, kneeling, bending. Must be able to use standard office equipment such as copiers and faxes.

    Employees must adhere to all applicable company policies and procedures. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Willingness and ability to work non-standard business hours, such as nights and weekends, on an as-needed basis is required.
