Job Summary
Work with a team of software engineers, designers, and product managers to create, maintain, modify software systems used by the animal health industry. Currently, these systems include organizational data management systems, compliance verification, and digital certificate creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with a team of engineers and developers to write software according to specifications
- Assist other software developers to clarify concepts and answer questions
- Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures, and techniques. Serves as a guide and mentor for junior-level Software Development Engineers.
- Assist development support to diagnose and solve issues which require a deeper technical knowledge
- Researches, writes and edits documentation and technical requirements, including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, and formal recommendations and reports.
- Participates in the discovery phase of small to medium-sized projects to come up with high-level design
- Analyze problems and create project specifications based on requirements
- Complete tasks assigned within sprint timeframe
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Computer Science degree from an accredited college or university
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Solid understanding of object-oriented design and programming
- Experience working in an agile environment
- Experience building complex systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Experience with professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Professional and team oriented with good communication skills
