Project Assistant - Annotator

We offer localization services for websites, mobile apps, and software, and provide data, language and testing services around the development of emerging technologies.

This is a project-based, part-time position with flexible hours. Post-secondary students are welcome to apply! We are currently looking for Annotators to assist with projects at our Yaletown office.
 
What is expected from an Annotator?
As an Annotator, you will receive training and instructions to get you started. You will then review video and audio recordings to tag and annotate based on these lists of instructions. For example, you may be tagging visible objects in a video, emotions of people or adding other tags.   


Responsibilities:
  • Report to the Data Collection team to receive instructions and determine a work schedule for this project
  • Review, tag and annotate video and audio recordings, using our in-office software paying attention to fine details
  • Identify basic sentence structure (subject, object, verb)

  • Good communicator -- you have good oral and written communication 
  • Focused on quality -- you pay attention to details and can't stand sloppy work.
  • Computer savvy -- you consider yourself as a technical person and get excited about new technologies, applications, etc.

  • Driven -- you're not someone who needs to be micromanaged and you don't wait around for problems or quality concerns to be brought up before brainstorming a fix
  • Problem solver -- you figure out problems that rarely have textbook solutions, "let me figure this out" is a sentence you use often
  • Open to receiving feedback -- you focus on solutions and improvements rather than finding excuses why something doesn't work
  • Positive -- you have a "nothing is impossible attitude" and you believe that everything can be done
  • Self-starter -- you see a clear link between your actions and their outcome, you don't sit around and wait for others to tell you what to do
  • Student of life -- you work continuously on being better in whatever you do and are interested in improving your skills, you find online resources to learn things you don't know
  • Clever and fast -- you understand things quickly and are not confused about simple things
  • Resourceful -- you have plenty of good ideas
  • Bachelor's degree preferred (students welcome to apply)
