PURPOSE
Responsible for overall coordination, status reporting, financial performance, and stability of project oriented work efforts
SCOPE
Responsible for assembling project plans and work papers, monitoring work efforts on a daily basis, performing quality review and escalating functional, quality, and timeline issues appropriately
Clears project obstacles for project team, leveraging servant leadership philosophy and practices
Responsible for alignment of team members with deliverables and verification of quality
Responsible for tracking key project milestones and adjusting project plans when necessary to meet project objectives
Responsible for adherence to project and business governance standards and methodologies
Coordinates communication with all project team members and affected business units
Manages two or more cross-functional custom software development projects
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
IT Service Delivery
- Tracks project performance to analyze the successful completion of short- and long-term goals
- Ensures projects are delivered on time and according to specifications
- Leads requirements elicitation, work breakdown, and project status sessions
- Proactively reports and communicates status and future changes
- Informs manager when tasks fall behind schedule
- Manages project related risks, establishes mitigation and contingency plans
Performance Management
- Ensures standard coding techniques are applied to ensure application performance meets requirements
- Suggests performance improvement changes
Customer Service
- Leads and participates in project meetings with user representatives
- Keeps stakeholders and team members informed of project status and changes
Software Development
- Applies a wide array of techniques to organize, monitor, and deliver quality enterprise software
- Accountable for the project delivery conforming to approved methodologies
- Partners with lines of business to capture the vision or use of the project and effectively communicates this to guide the development efforts
People Management
- Coaches and mentors more junior technical staff
- Provides input in team members formal performance review process
- Ensures projects are staffed with resources possessing the skills required to produce the deliverables
- Leads the project team in a positive manner, inspiring stakeholders to deliver high quality products.
- Use and continually develop leadership skills
Governance
- Follows policies and procedures, software development guidelines, user interface standards and change control processes
- Selects and applies the approved delivery methodology best suited for the project
Financial Responsibility
- Informs manager of any cost savings opportunities
- Manages project budgets and escalates any variances
Interaction
- Works with managers to gain a better understanding of company business strategies
- Works as a positive contributor when working within a team setting
- Learns or maintains understanding of product requirements and project deliverables
Safety and Health
- Follows Motion Industries safety guidelines
- Participates in GPC “safe” program
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Experience
- 7-10 years IT work experience in enterprise software development and/or system design
- 5-7 years managing custom or “commercial of the shelf” software projects
Skills
- Transactional and / or Supply Chain Management experience preferred
- Project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, etc.) and tools (EVM, Burn up / down, etc.), resource management practices and change management techniques for custom enterprise software development
- Ability to gather, analyze and document complex business requirements.
- Skilled in conceptualizing, documenting and presenting creative solutions utilizing current business analysis tools and techniques.
- Structured enterprise application development and change control methodologies
- Working knowledge of MS Project, ServiceNow Project Portal, or other equivalent project / portfolio management tool
- Excellent client-facing communication skills
- Contract negotiation and management
- Object oriented analysis and design
- Relational database analysis and design
- SQL proficiency
- Good understanding of IT organizational capabilities
Education
- BS in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
Certifications
- PMP or CSM certification is preferred
