GCAM is dedicated to and specializes in plasma industry. We are a growing company with centers in multiple states, and we have an immediate need for a Full-Time Donor Screener Supervisor at our facility located in Eagle Pass, TX.
Bilingual English/Spanish is REQUIRED.

Supervise and coordinate daily activities in reception area. Responsible to ensure donor screeners are trained and performs work of donor screener as necessary.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Coordinate daily activities in reception area.
- Make daily assignment in coordination with manager.
- Observe donor screeners for compliance.
- Monitor trainees on a daily basis to assess adherence to procedures.
- Document each step of training in employee’s training folder, if serving as the trainer.
- Assist in evaluation of donor screeners.
- Initiate re-training if issues are discovered.
- Ensure employees are competent in their positions so that they can work independently.
- Build rapport with donors to ensure “overall customer satisfaction” with the center to support long-term commitment.
- Present changes to staff as required.
- Assess problems and coordinate with manager to process donors in an efficient manner.
- Assist with all inspections.
- Make suggestions for changes in SOPs and forms.
- Maintain control and accuracy of inventory.
- Assist in validation of equipment.
- Perform or assist in the investigation of CLIA related problems.
- Identify any problems in donor screening affecting the suitability of donors.
- Work closely with medical staff to ensure compliance with donor suitability guidelines.
- Ensure corrective actions are enforced in response to any deviations that may occur.
- Teach staff how to deal with upset or angry donors.
- Assist in maintaining donor files in an efficient organized manner.
- Set the example for professionalism and adherence to procedures.
- May perform daily, weekly, monthly controls required for reception area.
- May perform screening of donors for acceptability.
- Maintain thorough familiarity of state and federal regulations.
- Familiar with all OSHA, CLIA, cGMP and company policies that directly or indirectly impact the screening of suitable donors.
- Ensure donor records are filed daily.
- Clean all equipment, counter tops and booths daily.
- Stock supplies required for the area.
- Log and stock incoming supplies.
- Answer phone, provide information for donors, and take messages.
- Report all training matters directly to manager and training supervisor.
- Report other employee matters directly to management team.
- Work with quality assurance in regards to new trainees and/or supervision of other employees.
- Maintain employee and donor confidentiality.
- Supervise employees to ensure procedural compliance.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Supervision of Donors
- Ensure donors who do not meet criteria for donation are appropriately deferred.
- Immediately report donors who may not meet donor suitability criteria.
- Immediately report incomplete donor record files and ensure DRF is thoroughly reviewed prior to sending donor to donor floor.
- Assist staff in checking donor veins, identification, social security documents and proof of residency.
- Maintain a professional relationship with donors.
- Enforce donor rules set forth by the facility.
- Be consistent in handling all donor problems in reception area.
- Assist staff in quickly and quietly dealing with upset donors or others who might be in the waiting area of the facility.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical Assistant or Nurse’s Assistant Certificate preferred
- Current CPR card
- Must be proficient in English (Read, Write, Speak) with legible handwriting
- Strong Customer Service Skills
- Prior supervisory skills preferred
- Prior experience in a medical, regulated or cGMP environment preferred
- Basic computer skills
- Cross trained and certified in plasma processing and donor collection area as requested
- Certified as a trainer as requested
- Six months of experience in reception area (Requirements can be changed by management, depending on skill and knowledge)
- May be required to travel for training
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Performing the responsibilities of the job requires ability to talk and hear.
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers, to handle & feel objects, tools and controls; reach with hands and arms.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Required to stand for extended intervals, walk, climb and balance; stoop, kneel and crouch.
- Physical ability to operate equipment used in screening and donor floor areas that may require repetitive motions and manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift, tug, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to read while standing or sitting in front of a computer for short periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments and gloves.
- Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
