Phlebotomist

GCAM is dedicated to and specializes in the plasma industry. We are a growing company with centers in multiple states, and we have an immediate need for a Phlebotomist at our facility located in Indianapolis, IN.
 
Please note: Experience in Phlebotomy or a Phlebotomy certificate is a plus.

Essential duties and responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to: 
  • Assists in determining the suitability of donors to undergo plasmapheresis prior to venipuncture
  • Prep donors for and perform venipuncture
  • Responds to and assists with handling donor reactions in accordance with guidelines
  • Monitors donor and equipment to ensure the health of donors and quality of the product
  • Sets up, disconnects, and operates the automated plasmapheresis, including response and evaluation of all autopheresis troubleshooting displays, documentation of exceptions, etc.
  • Ensure the proper calibration and maintenance of autopheresis machines and associated equipment.  
  • Maintains accurate and thorough documentation of production records and ensures donor confidentiality
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety rules as stated in the Employee Handbook and otherwise posted or communicated.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet company goals.  
 
Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Must be able to show proof)
  • Must be proficient in English (Read, Write, Speak); legible handwriting 
  • Current CPR card a plus
  • Prior experience in a plasma donor center or medical environment preferred 
  • Phlebotomy certification from an accredited institution is preferred 
 
Physical Demands:
  • While performing duties, you will regularly be required to use hands and fingers, to handle and feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms.   
  • Frequently required to stand for extended periods of time (2-3 hour intervals), walk, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Physical ability to operate plasmapheresis machine and related equipment.   
  • Manual dexterity to perform all phases of donor plasmapheresis that may require repetitive motions.
  • Ability to lift, tug, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens
