Network Capacity Building Coordinator

Reports To: Director of Government Programs
 
Classification: Full Time, Non-Exempt
 
Schedule: Generally Monday through Friday. Work days and hours may shift depending on scheduling needs; typical schedule will be 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Flexibility required.
 
Summary: The New York State LGBT Health & Human Services Network (The Network) is a coalition of 71 LGBT-specific non-profit organizations that provide care to LGBTQ New Yorkers and our families. The Network is administered by The LGBT Community Center and consists of eight committees and an advisory board, which collaborate, share resources, and determine strategies to advocate on behalf of LGBTQ New Yorkers. The Network Capacity Building Coordinator will provide key programmatic support for these activities and provide technical assistance to Network members. This position requires frequent statewide travel.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the Director of Government Programs in the facilitation of Network programming, including execution of The Network’s communications strategies around LGBTQ health promotion and HIV prevention.
  • Coordinate and deliver technical assistance and capacity building support for Network member agencies related to their priorities and contracted topics, such as social media (e.g., trainings, campaigns, conferences, and reports). 
  • Attend and co-facilitate the Network’s all-member, advisory body, and committee meetings.
  • Assist with LGBTQ cultural competency education and technical assistance with state agencies, and serve as liaison with Network members for these services statewide.
  • Assist with the creation of program content for The Network’s in-person events (e.g., the technical assistance conference, retreat, and advocacy events).
  • Develop and implement an annual educational campaign around a health priority within the LGBTQ community. Coordinate assessments of Network members’ priorities and work collaboratively to develop campaign concept and content. Project manage the launch, implementation, and maintenance of campaigns.
  • Analyze The Network’s social media analytics and effectiveness of outreach strategies. Make recommendations for areas for improvement and support in building communications capacity at member agencies.
  • Collaborate with The Network’s committees to create digital campaigns around days of significance to the LGBTQ community, to be easily replicated by The Network’s members statewide (LGBTQ Health Month, Pride, Transgender Day of Remembrance, Transgender Day of Visibility, and others). 
  • In collaboration with the Director, conduct site visits to The Network’s members across the state.
  • Support the coordination of The Network’s statewide needs assessment and annual report, including working with consultants to conduct data collection, analysis, and report writing. 
  • Serve on committees and advisory bodies around LGBTQ health and engage New York State government officials and agencies around LGBTQ health and human service priorities.
  • Manage relationships with external consultants and across departments within The Center.
  • Meet agency funding requirements, including monitoring program activities and outcomes, preparing program reports, and other documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a human service, public administration, or related field preferred; Master’s degree a plus.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience working in nonprofit organization or social services agency.
  • Familiarity with the LGBTQ health and human services landscape in New York, particularly with issues affecting transgender and gender non-conforming, immigrant and communities of color.
  • Demonstrated success and experience in project coordination, working in and for coalitions, as well as independently.
  • Commitment to inclusive, multicultural programming; prior experience working within coalitions with diverse communities and an understanding of intersecting oppressions.
  • Strong time management, administrative, and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication, and customer service skills, with an ability to interact with a wide range of personalities and diverse community members.
  • Demonstrated experience with Google Suite, social media and text messaging platforms, and online education formats. 
  • Familiarity with New York State budgeting processes, state agencies and state legislative process, community organizing, and campaign development.
  • Evaluation and data analysis experience preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
