Reports to: Clinical Support Manager
Classification: Full-Time | Non-Exempt
Schedule: Generally Monday through Friday. Work week and hours fluctuate based on events schedule and will include evenings and weekends on a regular basis; typical schedule will be 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; flexibility required.
Summary: The Family Permanency Coordinator will plan, implement and coordinate The Center’s programming to increase family acceptance and permanency for all LGBTQ+ youth, with a particular emphasis on safe and affirming homes for youth in child welfare settings. This includes facilitating internal and external trainings, providing short- to long-term counseling services, collaborating with community partners, supervising MSW/MHC graduate level interns, and managing all administrative aspects of family permanency programming.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead implementation of The LGBTQ Institute for Family Permanency (LIFT) Certification Program, a pre-designed training institute for external clinicians and program administrators, inclusive of facilitation and administrative oversight.
- Provide direct clinical services, inclusive of short- to long-term counseling with families of LGBTQ+ youth and a monthly support group in partnership with PFLAG NYC. Maintain a caseload of clients and manage additional case assignments to MSW/MHC interns.
- Responsible for oversight of Youth Speaker’s Bureau internship including supervision of Peer Youth Advisor, direction of program and implementation of youth leadership model.
- Take a lead role in child welfare work at The Center, maintaining direct contact with city agencies such as the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) and participating in city-wide working groups.
- Work with the Clinical Support Manager, Chief Advocacy Officer and other department heads in meeting agency administrative requirements, quality assurance and program planning, including grant proposals, preparation of statistical and program reports, and other required documentation.
- Work with the Clinical Support Manager and other Center staff and departments to implement collaborative services and programming as appropriate.
- Provide cross coverage for all other department tasks, duties and populations.

Position requirements:
- Advanced clinical degree, LMSW or similar, required; field certification to supervise students a plus.
- 2-3 years minimum experience in the provision of child welfare and/or family services, experience working with child welfare agencies in New York City a plus.
- Previous demonstrated experience with training and facilitation.
- Knowledge and understanding of the issues, needs and interests of LGBT youth, adults, families and community, including knowledge of the spectrum of gender identity and transgender issues.
- Strong leadership, administrative, organization, and written/verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of personalities with professionalism, consideration and levity as needed.
- Commitment to inclusive, multicultural programming; prior experience working with in coalitions with diverse communities and an understanding of intersectional oppressions.
- An understanding of the concepts of institutional and structural bias, racism, and gender identity inequities, and their impacts on the communities served at The Center.
- A strong commitment to the mission of The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center.
