At Freetrade, we believe investing should be open to everyone. It is one of the best ways to grow your savings, but for a lot of people, investing seems complicated, expensive and remote. We’re changing all that.
We’ve built a beautiful investing app that our customers love, and behind the app we’re building all the technology from the ground up. As we pave the way for the future of investing we need to establish a deeper understanding of the problems we want to solve and how we want to solve them. That’s where you come in.
We’re now looking for our first user researcher to lead and build out the user research function at Freetrade as we become the new way Europe invests their money. You’ll sit within the Product and Design team, reporting directly to the CEO and be the point-person for user research at Freetrade.
We’re keen to adopt best practice user research tools and processes so you’ll be encouraged to instil these into the team’s ways of working.
This is an exciting opportunity to make an impact at an early stage of our growth and help Freetrade scale as an exceptional place to work and build a career.
What you’ll do
- Work closely with product managers and product designers to define hypotheses for user research, co-ordinate and run user research and then evaluate design solutions.
- Build and develop our user research capability at Freetrade. Champion user research as essential to designing and building the best products for our customers.
- Coach product managers, designers and engineers throughout the company on the benefits of user research and best practices. Support them in incorporating user research into their daily work i.e. validating hypotheses and testing solutions.
- Align user research plans and activities with business objectives and priorities.
- Use insights gained from user research to create artefacts that enhance company understanding of our users - e.g. user personas and customer journey maps.
You should apply if
- You've got lots of hands-on experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods. You should be comfortable running an in-depth study or rapid testing and encourage best practice in our approach to usability, user testing and customer interviews.
- You can run research projects independently. This includes planning, scoping, user recruiting, facilitating the sessions, analysing results and creating deliverables. Experience with remote user testing tools such as usertesting.com is a bonus!
- You've got experience with user testing on mobile. We're an investment app so if you've got experience with both iOS and Android it’s a bonus!
- You’re a champion of robust research study design, you’re comfortable with metrics and are able to analyse and present data. You can also balance this against the practical constraints of a fast-growing company and are able to assess what research is required, when.
- You're a strong communicator and facilitator. You’re able to use your strong communication skills to bring customer problems to life, inform product development and drive business decisions.
- Your leadership style is approachable and candid. You’re able to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders.
- You’re a natural collaborator and are at your best when you're working as part of a team.
- You’re excited about what we’re doing at Freetrade and where we’re headed! 📈
