We are currently looking to fill this brand new role. It's a great opportunity to be involved in really pushing forward our sculpt workflow and quality.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead by example by being able to produce anatomically accurate appealing sculpts of a variety of organic characters (human, animal, creatures, etc.)
- Coordinate the work assignments within the shotsculpt team in conjunction with the Head of Modelling & Head of Creatures
- Work together with HOD Modelling, HOD Rigging, HOD CFX as well as Head of Creatures to improve current pipeline & cross department workflows
- Making sure the quality standards, consistency of workflows & deadlines for the various projects the shotsculpt team is working on are kept
- Work together with the Head of Creatures to help with educating existing teams
- Contribute to expanding & improve existing libraries
- Help to improve workflows for internal shotsculpt reviews
- Advise shows on best approach / use cases for shotsculpt on high level character work
- Communicate with other departments and production in order to ensure that the shotsculpt work meets the relevant artistic & technical requirements
- Ongoing communication with Production and Leads from other departments regarding schedules and deadlines
- Reports to Head of Creatures & HOD Modelling
Required Skills:
- 8+ years experience as an organic modeller
- Proven track record of leadership experience in VFX or AAA game studios / cinematic work
- Love for body deformation - happy to work mostly in this area. Excellent human anatomy knowledge with a focus on anatomy in motion
- Strong organic sculpting skills
- Strong knowledge of topology for deformation
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, to prioritise tasks and to meet tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience working in a collaborative environment and taking direction
- Interest in pipeline and workflows
- Thorough knowledge of Maya
- Ability to quickly master custom in-house production tools
Desirable Skills:
- Animal anatomy knowledge is a plus Animation experience a plus
- Drawing skills is a plus
- Traditional sculpting skills is a plus
