Framestore are looking for an MCR Assist to work in the MCR/Data Services Department in our Chicago office. The MCR Assist will report to the MCR technician, and belong to Framestore's global data services department. This is a great opportunity to join a creative company in a junior role with capacity to grow.
The Data Services Department monitors and manages digital data throughout a project. This includes data and video elements coming into the facility, data generated throughout the duration of a project, and properly formatted digital and video delivery of final material to our clients.
Key to this role is someone with a proactive attitude, attention to detail and who is keen to learn. There will be on the job training provided for this role. This is a staff role with benefits.
Responsibilities:
- Loading incoming files onto the server from portable drives, FTP sites, and/or client web-links
- Transcoding camera original files via Baselight color solution
- Copying files around the local facility server or in-between other Framestore facilities
- Converting, resizing, or changing aspect ratios of files needed for production use
- Transcoding & converting VR camera files into usable format for production crew
- Processing and QC'ing all client material for final delivery leaving the facility
- Assisting the MCR technician as required
Essential Skills:
- Excellent communication skills & the ability to interact well with co-workers in professional environment
- Technically strong, good problem solving skills and a capacity to learn.
- Attention to detail
- Basic use of: Adobe Creative Suite / Adobe Premiere / Final Cut Pro
- A familiarity with Linux / MAC OSX / Windows workstations
- Working knowledge of QuickTime Player Pro's capabilities
- Basic understanding of visual effects, color grading and computer graphics concepts and terminology
Desirable Skills:
- Basic understanding & knowledge of multi-platform computer networks and remote server technology
- Knowledge of transcoding and converting various video formats / codecs / file formats / frame rates
- Basic understanding of video tape machines
