Our R&D department produces innovative technology which allows us to meet the needs of both current and future films. One of our most significant proprietary tools is our fur & feathers software, 'hair-filters', which is used on all of our film projects.
We are seeking to recruit a senior graphics R&D software engineer to join that team and help advance the software further.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with our groom department (across multiple Framestore sites) to identify both show requirements and long term goals.
- Helping to prioritise new development and show support of the fur software.
- Work alongside our other R&D developers to ensure that new tools fit within our existing software systems, including our in-house lighting software and proprietary renderer.
- Support, and collaborate with, our artists
- Keep up to date on developments in CG, and contribute to the studio's strategic tool development.
Requirements:
- Several years of experience developing in-house tools in a VFX house or similar company.
- Degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related fields.
- Several years of experience of C++ software development in Linux/Unix.
- Experience of software development in a team environment, including the use of source control systems, revision management, testing and maintenance.
- Experience of developing Maya plugins
- Experience of code optimisation and development of multi-threaded software.
- Ideally experience of OpenGL development.
