Lead Line Cook

POSITION SUMMARY: 
The Lead Line Cook at Fort Point Beer is an integral member of the team. They are directly responsible for being the support of the Sous Chef. When the sous chef is absent, the Lead Line Cook assumes roles and responsibilities, to ensure day to day operations of Fort Point Valencia, are met to company standards. 

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in the set up and maintenance of all stations and food prep areas
  • Ensure kitchen team is supported during peak hours; fill in on stations when needed
  • Check over kitchen line and basement prep area, before exiting shift
  • Help train and coach all members of kitchen
  • Break down work station after shift, ensuring it is clean and ready to go for next shift
  • Keep a sanitized and orderly workspace at all times
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly (label and dating, FIFO)
  • Follow all procedures as required by local, state and federal health codes 
  • Other duties as directed by Executive Chef or restaurant management 
  • Remove garbage, compost, and recycling at end of shift, or when needed
 
SECONDARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in the production of events outside of Fort Point Valencia normal operation
     
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:
  • 2 + years experience in a similar role in a restaurant with a focus on thoughtful food using unique and high quality ingredients
 
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION PREFERRED:
  • Culinary certificate or degree
  • Basic knowledge of San Francisco sanitation laws (compost, recycle, waste)
  • Conversational Spanish
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
 
  • Physical ability to stand up to 8 hours a day, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, and walk
  • Hand and finger dexterity for grabbing, lifting, etc.
  • Ability to move at least 150 lbs., and lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills in English
 
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
  • Varies, but generally evenings, weekends, and some holidays required 
  • Monday - Sunday availability
