The Role
The Barback at Fort Point Valencia is an enthusiastic representative of Fort Point Beer Company. Working with a team, the Barback supports Bartenders and Servers by cleaning glassware, tables, and the bar; running food and drinks, changing kegs, and stocking bar coolers.
The Responsibilities
- Bus tables, ensuring they’re clean for the next guests
- Collect, clean, and organize glassware
- Run food from kitchen to guests at the bar and floor
- Keep the bar clean and organized
- Stock bar coolers
- Change kegs
- Clean keg cooler
- Assist with pouring beer, wine, and other beverages under direction of Bartender
- Ability to answer questions and take orders from guests as needed
- Complete assigned sidework
- Work as a team, with flexibility to assist in other roles as needed
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with FOH and BOH teams
- Keep a clean and orderly workspace at all times
- Follow all procedures as required by local, state, and federal health codes
- Complete ad hoc projects as assigned by the Executive Chef, General Manager, or Director of Retail
The Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Customer-oriented job, internship, or volunteer experience
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application
- Valid Food Handler Certification

- Attention to detail and ability to communicate with guests and staff effectively
- Ability to communicate promptly and thoroughly with management via email and phone
- Willingness to take direction, and uphold company standards
- Ability to do basic math calculations
- Experience as a busser, food runner, or barback preferred
- Knowledge of beer and the beer industry preferred
- Proficiency with Square POS preferred
- Proficiency with iOS preferred
