The Role
The Logistics Manager owns fulfillment of sales orders through self-distribution and 3rd party distributors. To meet this goal, the Logistics Manager will build and rely on a team of Logistics Coordinators to route deliveries daily, operate as dispatch for drivers, and work across departments to manage inventory in our ERP—this is a very collaborative role requiring effective communication skills. As a member of operations leadership at Fort Point the Logistics Manager must be goal oriented, attentive to details and timeframes, and a creative problem solver.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage a team of Logistics Coordinators: train, delegate, set goals, coach
- Manage the movement of raw materials, finished goods, and merchandise
- Work with Warehouse and Delivery Managers to enforce standards for the organization, storage, movement, and record keeping of inventory
- Manage dispatch functions for the Delivery team (e.g. help find tire repair & locksmith services, and re-route orders as needed during the day)
- Work with Delivery Managers to get feedback and improve routing and truck loading
- Coordinate freight deliveries to customers and distributors
- Report to company leadership on sales order fulfillment and delivery capacity usage
- Troubleshoot inventory count discrepancies and engage other teams (AR, Production, Sales) in problem solving
- Implement new inventory controls in collaboration with the Controller’s team
- Work with the Production department, delivery team, and 3rd parties to coordinate timely goods and material transfers between company locations
- Assist other managers on the Logistics team with scheduling equipment maintenance
Requirements
- 4+ years experience in inventory management or operations management in a fast-paced distribution or manufacturing environment
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Experience with Inventory Management
- Netsuite or similar ERP experience
- Experience with continuous improvement, Lean, or other manufacturing systems preferred
- Customer Service focused
- Advanced Excel, Google Suite, and Apple computer skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Highly detail oriented and organized
- Reliable, responsible, and proactive attitude
- Highly motivated and works well both independently and in a team environment
- Flexible and adaptable to change; ability to learn new software platforms
Expected Hours of Work
- 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Friday
