Position Summary
The main objectives of the Operations Manager position are to lead, coordinate, supervise, and ensure safe, productive and high-quality services offered through the Production Department staff, scheduling staff, arborist supplies. Assist in the recruiting and selection of qualified candidates for positions with the department. Provide effective leadership skills to enhance efficiencies, safety compliance, and inspire high-quality services through effective and consistent communication with clients, management team, crew leaders, and sales arborists. Promotes a strong working relationship with all departments.
Job functions would also include working with the Production Department scheduling staff to effectively select and allocate the proper equipment and appropriate crews to ensure that productivity and profitability goals for the company are achieved. Ensure accuracy of all crew paperwork prior to submitting for invoicing.
To provide on-site coordination and supervision for all phases of utility tree removal contracted projects. Including coordinating equipment and supplies, ensuring that policy and processes are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule. Will be responsible for scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Driver’s license required. Commercial driver’s license preferred and may be required, depending on job requirements
- 3+ years of Construction Operations Manager Experience
- Manage staff and maintain the highest customer satisfaction and employee engagement levels.
- Set individual goals and KPIs for all staff positions with financial responsibilities.
- Monitor staff performance to ensure that daily revenue and sold-hour goals are met.
- Show employees how their individual contributions matter to the company's success.
- Communicate clearly, show recognition and build rapport with employees.
- Monitor employee engagement levels and know how to promote a healthy work environment.
- Train and advise staff members on how to win new referrals and gain repeat business.
- Establish customer satisfaction metrics, evaluate performance and coach staff to success.
- Build a plan for escalating customer complaints that result in quick, favorable resolutions.
- Create an annual budget, control expenses and meet or exceed plan.
- Ensure sufficient staff levels to meet ongoing customer demand and seasonal spikes.
- Promote enthusiasm and brand loyalty during daily huddles, team meetings and 1:1's.
- Conduct operations and P&L meetings with key managers to increase productivity levels.
- Formalize a coaching and training platform that's consistent, effective and measurable.
- Shape company culture by living out agreed-upon values, specifically ethics and integrity.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage the day to day operations of the production staff, including the operational scheduling, coordination of all materials, people, equipment, and subcontractor paperwork. Monitor material costs and deliveries.
- Operations Manager provides crew supervision of line clearing and tree trimming services for major electric utility providers
- Strong communication with administrative staff regarding work status, equipment needs, contract paperwork and required reporting documents.
- Promotes a united working environment and encourages teamwork, communication, and collaboration throughout all aspects of the project.
- Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed.
- Ensure that all work is fully executed and complying with the contracted scope of work.
- Communicate with the project team regarding equipment and material submittals.
- Identify non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards.
- Maintain dailies, roster logs, and all written activities on the job site.
- Perform general manager duties at multiple job sites, simultaneously.
- Ensure correction of all deficiencies identified by the project team
- Walk all in-progress projects on a regular basis to monitor activities and assist in future planning.
- Preside over weekly planning meetings designed to coordinate the work.
- Issue notices of non-compliance regarding the quality of work or scheduling.
- Perform job progress and completion punch list identification and completion.
- Maintain equipment and material punch list to assure all equipment is in compliance and up to proper working standards.
- Perform quarterly safety inspection on equipment and trucks to assure compliance with all safety standards.
- Perform weekly truck audits to ensure the trucks are fully stocked and operational. Also, to ensure there is only authorized equipment in production.
- Communicate any mechanical issues or needs to yard staff.
