PR & Communications Manager

YOUR ROLE
 
As the PR & Communications Manager, you will help Fishbowl become a household name for all professionals. We’re passionate about connecting professionals through authentic conversation, and at Fishbowl we’re bringing together world-class talent from different experiences, disciplines, and areas of study to produce a new type of online network.

Fishbowl connects professionals with colleagues in their industry to have candid and relevant workplace conversations. Many users describe Fishbowl as a “Twitter meets LinkedIn” and the platform has already established its influence in certain industries, becoming the go-to daily app for more than 30% of US professionals at the top companies in Management Consulting, Accounting, and Advertising. It's used by junior staff and CEOs alike. 

Fishbowl serves as a safe space for marginalized professional communities and a place for young professionals to seek mentorship. Thousands of meaningful stories happen on the platform every week, and the Fishbowl brand is often referenced in publications like The Wall Street journal and Ad Age as a source for professional sentiment on a variety of topics. 

As the PR & Communications Manager, you will start out as the sole contributor for all things pr/comms related, and you shouldn't mind handling pitches yourself. Your role will be focused on three core areas:

1. Growth Oriented PR
You will help create a process to quickly package content from the Fishbowl platform for redistribution across a variety of channels to help grow Fishbowl's presence and brand awareness in a repeatable way. You will be looking for newsjacking opportunities and constantly packaging our user annecdotes and stories into relevant pieces.

2. Thought Leadership
You will work directly with the founders on strengthening Fishbowl's thought leadership from both B2C (social networking / community building) and B2B (Talent/Employee Engagement) perspectives. This will include helping with bylines and speaking engagements.

3. Fishbowl Messaging
You will work directly with our Director of Brand to help craft the messaging to communicate the value of Fishbowl to a variety of audiences, as well as the channels (both online and offline) that are important for Fishbowl to have a presence. 
 
WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Manage external communications for all things Fishbowl
  • Increase brand awareness throughout professional industries by adapting the Fishbowl story as needed
  • Pitching Fishbowl and Fishbowl related content to digital, print, and tv channels.
  • Research and define relevant trade publications for industry related stories.
  • Work with Director of Brand to Develop go-to-market communications strategy for multiple industries and define key events and channels for Fishbowl's presence
  • Execute content marketing strategies based on organic Fishbowl content
  • Collaborate closely with Design, Community, Product, Sales, and other internal subject matter experts to tell the brand story to our customer segments
  • Support the development of the Fishbowl brand and thought leadership strategy
 
 
WHAT YOU’LL BRING 
  • A passion for community building and story telling
  • 5-7 years of experience conducting public relations and marketing programs in-house or at an agency
  • Strong creative direction, strategic storytelling and organizational skills.
  • Fluency in digital marketing, including a clear understanding of building brands and communities in digital channels, social media content, etc.
  • Excellent writer – can adjust copy to various mediums/audiences
  • Extraordinary verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented. You'll be flying solo to begin with.
  • Team player (we're all about community!)
  • Experience working with senior executives
  • Experience in consumer internet is a plus
