Insurance Claims Specialist

Why is this role important to Field Nation?
The Insurance Claims Specialist will be part of our growing Customer Support Escalation team as we work to build long term, consistent processes and policies for claims. By working closely with internal teams and building relationships with customers, this position will enable us to maintain high level customer satisfaction while allowing both to do their job more effectively. We are seeking someone who is detail-oriented, who has a strong ability to positively influence a situation, and who is able to efficiently and effectively handle all parts of the claims process on a daily basis. This position offers the chance to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where new ideas are encouraged and collaboration is a must. This position is located in Minneapolis, MN and reports to the VP of Customer Success.


What you’ll do: 
  • Investigate and process general liability, personal injury/workers comp insurance claims filed by our marketplace users.
  • Verify that coverage applies to the policy
  • Interview claimant and witnesses to gather pertinent information via submitted docs/photographs/statements
  • Coordinate with other internal departments/staff members as needed
  • Contact authorities including police, lawyers and hospital staff as needed
  • Record data and statements for long term accessibility
  • Prepare and present claims to our insurance companies
  • Assist our internal legal team to communicate with lawyers/legal representation as needed
  • Deny/Approve claim in accordance with our investigation and policy
  • Evaluate damages to determine specific reimbursement amount (negotiate to settle as needed)
  • Consult experts to assist in determining evaluation as needed
  • Work internally with our finance team to issue payout amounts
  • May give input during budget planning
  • Resolve/mediate any related issues that arise outside the claim itself


What you’ll need:
  • Previous experience handling/processing claims through its entire life-cycle including estimating/appraising
  • Specific experience handling general liability and personal injury/workers comp claims would be a huge plus
  • Customer service and/or sales background (customer-focused role)
  • Experience thoroughly investigating a situation and making consistent/fair decisions 
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented when gathering, documenting and executing claims
  • Ability to make a positive, lasting impression using verbal and written communication
  • Superior customer experience skills, with a passion for “getting it right the first time”
  • Ability to stay calm and delivering accurate solutions during high stress situations
  • Driven self-starter that takes pride in exceeding expectations
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate well with a variety of personalities
  • Strong problem solving capabilities
  • Ability to display genuine empathy when we are unable to completely solve someone’s issue
  • Experience at a marketplace company or one where you regularly served as a go-between for clients highly preferred
