Computer Programmer II

ADEC is looking for a sharp, dedicated Computer Programmer II to join our team.  This Computer Programmer will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing and modifying programming systems. They will also be responsible for encoding, testing, debugging and installing computer system applications as well as maintaining and developing online and batch application programs. Additional duties will include providing IT, networking and server support as needed; performing system maintenance (back-ups, recovery and file maintenance, scheduling of installs and testing of system software upgrades). The Computer Programmer II will report to the IT Manager.  
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Consult with IT Manager, Systems Analysts, other programmers, and end users to gather information about program intent, functions, features, data requirements, input requirements, output requirements, internal and external checks and controls, hardware and operating system environment, and interfaces with other systems  
  • Design or write program specifications based on consultations  
  • Convert designs and specifications into computer code  
  • Compile code into programs and correct errors detected in compile process  
  • Create test transactions and run tests to find errors and confirm program meets specifications  
  • Analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs  
  • Write and maintain documentation of changes to computer code, programs, and specifications  
  • Design and code layouts for onscreen user interfaces, printed outputs, and interfaces with other systems  
  • Review user and technical documentation written by others to confirm consistency with program operations  
  • Modify and maintain software programs written by others.  
  • Provide technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or questions with programs  
  • Revise program for corrections, enhancements, or system environment changes  
  • Train end users or technical support staff to use and support program  
  • Instruct users in use of equipment, software and manuals
  • Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc. Provide Tier 1/Tier 2 problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems 
  • Document technical support procedures  
  • Configure and manage Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance 
  • Respond to client inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems
  • Other duties as needed

Work Environment
The position operates in a professional office environment as well as occasional travel may be required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Education and Experience
  • Associate degree (A.S.) from two-year College or University; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must have prior experience/working knowledge in ASP, ASP.Net, VB, .Net, and CSS -AND- Databases: SQL Server or DB2 and Postgres
  • 2+ years’ experience working with Windows-based computers and software applications in a centrally managed network environment with System Administrator experience
