Guidewire Developer

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and maintain GOSU language application code within Guidewire Claims Center application
Plan, design, develop, modify, debug and evaluate moderately complex software for functional areas
Analyze existing software or work to formulate logic for moderately complex new systems
Provide leadership in the coding and design of applications that reflect the visual and interaction designs provided within the established technical framework
Provide leadership in the creation and adherence of coding standards for the team.
Foster, initiate and participate in pair-programming and coaching sessions with team members to accomplish project requirements
Participate in daily stand-ups, communicating effectively with project managers and peer developers
Provide leadership in the writing of detailed technical and functional specification documentation
Work independently to solve complex problems without the need for direction or oversight
Complete other projects as assigned

Must possess an understanding of all aspects of the software development life cycle (e.g. requirements, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and documentation) and Agile and Iterative Development execution, models
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong creative problem-solving skills and the ability to successfully work on multiple projects simultaneously
Must be detail oriented and a proven project leader for small to medium size projects and proven ability to learn new languages and development methodologies
Effectively interface with external contacts, Brotherhood employees, managers, and department staff members. 
Because the company s niche is the church and related ministries market, and because effective service requires a thorough understanding of this market, persons in this position must be familiar with church operations and must conduct themselves in a manner that will neither alienate nor offend persons within this target niche.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 
Bachelor s degree in Information Technology or equivalent degree
Five or more years developing software or web applications
Highly competent in Java, 3+ years
One or more years of insurance or financial industry background is desired
Working toward CPCU designation is desired
