F9’s CEO, Eric Schoonover, started his career as a software engineer at Microsoft and Netflix where he progressed from a risky hire with no experience and no education to a principal level software engineer. He co-founded a YCombinator-funded startup after leaving Netflix and eventually landed at Time Inc as Vice President of Engineering. Prior to founding F9, he was Director of Engineering for the United States Digital Service in the Executive Office of the President, and Director of Engineering at the Defense Digital Service in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

Responsibilities
At F9 IT Help Desk engineers are responsible for providing break-fix support for MAC and PC users, allocating and configuring hardware and resource access for new hires, tracking the use-of and renewing software licenses, network infrastructure management and connectivity troubleshooting, installing and configuring new hardware, sourcing and procuring hardware/software/peripherals, and ensuring that all conference room related A/V technology is in good working order.

F9 seeks IT Help Desk engineers that are interested in developing software engineering capability and prioritize performing work that reduces time spent on support tasks via the development of self-service tools that allow users to solve their own problems.

Qualifications
  • At least 2 years experience providing effective IT support to a professional software engineering organization
  •  Experience automating simple tasks using cron jobs and shell scripting
  •  Experience managing a user help desk (e.g. Atlassian JIRA Service Desk, ServiceNow)
  •  Associate degree in Computer Science, a related technical field involving systems engineering (e.g., Physics or Mathematics) or equivalent practical experience
