Our Greenville facility is seeking passionate, highly-skilled individuals who are comfortable working in a dynamic, technically-challenging environment where they will be given ownership of processes from start to finish. LEAD STRUCTURES DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER:
The vehicle engineering team tackles space exploration’s toughest problems through the development of our reusable launch vehicles (SARGE, Jaguar, Asimov). Currently responsible for delivering medical experiments and other payloads to space, these vehicles will be instrumental in expanding our knowledge in the medical community as well as teach and inspire our future generation of space enthusiasts. As a mechanical engineer focused on vehicle development, you will spearhead the design of numerous structures, assembles and components. You will own hardware from cradle to grave and will interact regularly with senior leadership during critical design phases.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and certify mechanical systems that meet customer and EXOS requirements for next generation reusable rockets.
- Lead team of engineers responsible for the mechanical/structural design of the launch vehicle including staging and recovery components, launch structures and test fixtures.
- Utilize the full spectrum of the design, analysis, test, and manufacturing tools to create efficient structures and components.
- Ownership of product delivery timeline through conception, design, assembly and launch.
- Develop test plans for parts through development, qualification and acceptance testing.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Experience with CAD and FEA software packages.
- 5+ years of experience with mechanical/electromechanical design and analysis.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- PhD or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 7+ years of professional experience in mechanical design and analysis.
- 5+ years of hands-on project experience with complex mechanical systems, preferably as a lead.
- Solid understanding and application of GD&T.
- Comprehensive knowledge of structural analysis and failure modes of complex mechanical systems.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
- Experience with metal additive manufacturing
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work long hours and weekends as necessary.
