Lead CNC Machinist

LEAD CNC MACHINIST:

The CNC Machine team develops and builds the most advanced spacecraft and reusable launch vehicle components in the world. Machinists in this group will work directly with production and engineering to develop in-house machining capabilities for these complex valves, actuators, and other fluid control devices on our spacecraft and launch vehicles. These components use a variety of materials and have tightly controlled dimensional and surface finish requirements. The Machining Center will be responsible for developing the capability and processes to produce this hardware at rate meeting our internal quality requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
●       Oversee production schedules and assignment of machining tasks
●       Responsible for machine maintenance schedules and maintaining compliance
●       Set-up, operate, maintain and prove-out programs on CNC machines including lathes and 3 to 5 axis mills
●       Responsible for part setup, machining, verification and inspection
●       Complete machining operations from blueprints, drawings, electronic files and/or verbal instructions
●       Document changes to CAM files and manage feedback to engineering
●       Maintain specifications by working with complex, tight tolerance parts of various materials
●       Setup standards and compliance checks for machining staff
 BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
●       High school diploma or GED
●       5+ years of experience in set-up, operation and programming of CNC mill machines
●       Experience with lathe machining aluminum, stainless, and other exotic metals or alloys
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
●       Experience running an entire production shop
●       Able to interpret and generate G-code. 
●       Experience running twin spindle, live tool lathe, 3 and 5 axis milling machines
●       Ability to run 5-axis programs
●       Experience with manual lathes, knee mills, and various other manual equipment
●       Experience with CAM software such as MasterCAM or SolidCAM preferable
●       Experience with CAD software such as Solidworks preferable
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
●       Must be able to work all required shift hours, overtime and weekends, as needed
●       Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted, repetitive movement, bending or twisting, using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls, exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting, exposure to typical shop chemicals (coolant, solvents, cleaners) are generally required to perform the functions of this position
●       Able to stand for extended periods of time

●       To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), and eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
