POSITION DESCRIPTION
TEC is seeking a full-time Project Accountant to maintain all assigned Vendor and Customer records under the direction of the Accounting Supervisor. The Project Accountant is responsible for ensuring that all Vendor and Customer financial records are accurate and current.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Accounts Payable
- Processes all administrative, indirect, and direct program expenses for payment, in accordance with TEC Expenses Policy Guidelines and contract guidelines
- Processes & enters invoices & credit card transactions in Project Management/Accounting System
- Works closely with Program Staff to ensure transactions are submitted timely, as well as the accuracy of the transactions
- Researches all payment discrepancies
- Reacts proactively to provide guidance to program staff and monitors the accuracy of program charges
- Processes cash disbursement
- Mail weekly payments
Accounts Receivable
- Prepares invoices in accordance with contract guidelines
- Works closely with project managers to resolve any billing issues and or discrepancies
- Reconciles customer ITD/YTD expenditures to budget reports and communicates variances to Accounting Supervisor on a monthly basis
- Reviews and follows up on Aged Accounts Receivables
- Processes cash receipts
Contracts
- Review contracts, consultants, consulting agreements, back-up requirements, etc.
- Examines vendor invoices, subcontractor invoices and employee expenses for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with reimbursement and payment procedures and regulations;
- Tracks Consultant spent and monitors consultant budgets
Other Tasks/Special Projects
- Filing
- Verifies that monthly applicable financial records to ensure project financials are accurately stated in accounting system
- Reconciles assigned general ledger account(s)
- Prepares & upload journal entries
- Prepares other transactions in accounting system
- Provides weekly updates to Accounting Supervisor
- Prepares annual 1099 and Sales Tax Forms, in accordance with IRS guidelines
- Train new hires on TEC Timekeeping and Expense Policy
- Performs additional reporting/ assignments as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 3 to 5 years related work experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Understand GAAP principles
- Understand financial statements
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts, subcontracts, corporate policies, etc.
- Ability to speak effectively before vendors and customers, employees and management
- Expert knowledge of QuickBooks online accounting software; Knowledge of project management software a plus (Projector PSA)
- Experience with Google Docs, Drive, and Apps preferred
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel Skills, such as pivot tables and v-lookup functions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for presenting numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information; Proficient in English (verbal and written)
- Strong analytical skills to synthesize complex or diverse information; Collects and researches data
- Strong problem solving skills required to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner demonstrated by gathering and analyzing information skillfully, developing alternative solutions, working well in group problem solving situations
- Strong project management skills - Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks to meet weekly and monthly close deadlines; Ability to complete assignments in a thorough, accurate and timely manner; Ability to follow-through on tasks
- Demonstrated adaptability - Adapts to changes in the work environment; Manages competing demands; Changes approach or method to best fit the situation; Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events

Salary is based on qualifications and experience. TEC offers a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental and vision insurance; 401(k) retirement plan with partial employer matching; 9/80 work schedule with paid holidays and paid time off.
