Position Summary
The Solid Dosage Manufacturing Operator is responsible for making product in capsule or tablet form via automated equipment. The operation can take place in a clean room or a non-sterile environment. The operations consist of working heavily with process equipment to make the product and enclose the product in a proper container.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Become trained in the entire manufacturing operation via internal training program
- Perform compounding calculations and complete with thorough documentation
- Compound preparations accurately and in compliance with master formula worksheets
- Loads and unloads machinery with raw materials and finished product
- Set up, operate, troubleshoot and adjust equipment to ensure employee safety, product quality, and quantity
- Problem solver who enjoys collaborating with a team to resolve issues
- Monitors equipment such as presses, encapsulation machines, ampoule machine to adjust and report any issue and abnormal conditions
- Operate equipment that utilizes oxygen and propane for flame control (glass-forming)
- Understand and make adjustment on equipment based on mechanical properties/concepts such as weight, product deformation, hardness, friability, equipment operational issues
- Operate various packaging machines such as a blister packing machine or an ampoule filler/sealer
- Perform production in an ISO classified, Hazardous, and non-sterile cGMP environment
- Perform ancillary tasks and duties that support the manufacturing process such as, but not limited to, weight sorting, inventory accounting, packaging, and LEAN manufacturing (5S, RCCMs, GEMBA)
- Perform precise testing on final product during and after production
- Record operational and production data on specified forms and spread sheets
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas and equipment
- Maintain an ISO classified environment through rigorous cleaning and disinfecting of the work space and components
- Ensure cleansing and garbing is performed per company policy
- Utilize aseptic technique when performing tasks within the clean room
- Prepare work area and supplies thoroughly prior to production
- Perform other duties and responsibilities within the department to ensure execution of the production schedule
- Assists in other duties as needed and directed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read, understand, follow and comply with technical and written documents (SOPs)
- Must be able to follow detailed processing instructions as well as clearly and accurately documenting all necessary batch documentation
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the pharmaceutical field
- Basic computer skills required
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods when required
- Comfortable working in a group setting
- Capable of becoming forklift certified and utilizing a forklift in a safe manner
- Demonstrates reliability
- Capable of performing work standing for duration of shift
- Can perform in an ISO classified cleanroom where operator is gowned up for majority of day (restricted environment)
- Must be able to work in a hazardous drug setting
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Pharmacy technician trainee or certification recommended required
- Prior forklift experience a plus but not required
- Ability to work 8 to 10 hours per day.
