Pharmacy Technician - 2nd Shift Sterile Compounding (Shift differential for 2nd Shift)

Position Summary
The Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician is responsible for executing all processes in the production of compounded sterile preparations while strictly adhering to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Schedule Type for 2nd Shift: 3:00pm-11:30pm (Second shift) 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Become trained in the entire sterile operation via internal training program 
  • Perform high-risk sterile compounding in an ISO classified cGMP environment
  • Compound sterile preparations accurately and in compliance with master formula worksheets
  • Perform compounding calculations and complete with thorough documentation 
  • Operate manufacturing equipment in order to deliver high-quality patient medication
  • Maintain an ISO classified environment through rigorous cleaning and disinfecting of the work space and components
  • Provide assistance with sterilization of components used in the manufacturing process
  • Perform ancillary tasks and duties that support the manufacturing process such as, but not limited to, bubble point testing, inventory accounting, autoclaving, and LEAN manufacturing (5S, RCCMs, GEMBA)
  • Utilize aseptic technique when performing tasks within the clean room
  • Prepare work area and supplies thoroughly prior to compounding
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities within the department to ensure execution of the production schedule
  • Ensure cleansing and garbing is performed per company policy
Knowledge & Skills
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated
  • Work in a confined, controlled environment for extended periods of time
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with a team to achieve goals around safety, quality, and delivery
  • Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
  • Must be able to fully gown in aseptic garb for extended periods of time
  • Ability to perform rudimentary mathematical calculations as related to compounding or manufacturing processes
  • High School Diploma or equivalency- required 
  • Previous compounding experience- preferred 
  • Previous cGMP or LEAN manufacturing experience- recommended
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (or trainee)- recommended
  • Registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP)- recommended
  • Sterile/IV Certified (APCE accredited)-  recommended
  • Experience with operation of equipment and/or tools- recommended

  Work Environment 
  • Under USP requirements jewelry, body piercings, and makeup are prohibited while working in this role
  • Clean room environment requires all personnel to arrive prepared, ensuring sustenance in personal hygiene
