Pharmacy Technician - Sterile Compounding (2nd shift)

Position Summary

The Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician is responsible for executing all processes in the production of compounded sterile preparations while strictly adhering to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and department Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Schedule Type for 2nd Shift: 2:00pm-10:00pm OR 3:00pm-11:00pm (Second shift) 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure cleansing and garbing policy is performed per company regulations
  • Compound sterile preparations accurately and in compliance with master formula worksheets
  • Perform calculations and complete documentation as required
  • Operate all compounding equipment accurately and according to policies and procedures
  • Utilize correct and appropriate aseptic technique at all times
  • Prepare work area and supplies thoroughly prior to compounding
  • Operate and monitor technical, computerized, compounding equipment, ensuring quality standards are maintained
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities, as necessary, within the department in an effort to provide the required support to ensure adherence to the production schedule

Knowledge & Skills

  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated
  • Work in a confined, controlled environment for extended periods of time, functioning effectively as a team
  • Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
  • Physically able to continuously stand and walk
  • Must be able to fully gown in aseptic garb for extended periods of time
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide 


  • High School Diploma or equivalency required 
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician
  • Registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP)
  • Sterile/IV Certified (APCE accredited) 
  • Previous compounding experience preferred
