Senior Engineering Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As our Senior Engineering Manager, you would:

  • Manage the development and maintenance of the Eastridge Cloud platform, which powers $300M in annual revenue across 500 clients
  • Help champion and lead complex Eastridge Cloud projects across departments 
  • Build and maintain relationships across the company to protect and enhance the reputation of the Eastridge Cloud team
  • Engage and consult with clients and vendors on technical matters
  • Lead a cross-functional team of engineers and quality assurance professionals
  • Ensure data and reporting integrity across Eastridge Cloud 
  • Stay engaged with the Eastridge Cloud codebase by owning strategic code reviews and making commits as duty calls
  • Improve efficiency and clear roadblocks for engineers to achieve peak performance

Senior Engineering Manager Qualities

Here are the qualities that are essential to be qualified for the role:

  • Proficient in microservices architecture 
  • Fluent in web application architecture best practices
  • In-depth understanding of relational database theory and practice
  • Fluent in Python and at least one web framework (e.g. Django, Flask, or Pyramid)
  • At least 5 years of production back-end web application development
  • Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience (and enjoyment of) managing people as direct reports 
  • Fundamental understanding of web application security principles

While optional, it would also be great if you also had these qualities:

  • Proficient in JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Ember.js)
  • Proficient in managing Amazon Web Services (e.g. EC2, RDS, S3)
  • Experience with configuration management, CI/CD (e.g. Ansible and Puppet)
