Supervising Producer, Podcasts and Audio (New York City)

We’re seeking an experienced candidate to oversee day to day production and continue to set high standards for Duolingo’s popular podcast, one of the most-listened to in the world, and help lead development of additional podcasts and audio programs for the company. Our ideal person has direct experience developing content and audiences for popular audio programming, and a desire to push the envelope and innovate in the medium. You’ll join Duolingo’s growing studios team and help create original content in multiple languages that will reach millions worldwide wishing to learn about language, culture and more. 

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Oversee day to day production of multiple current podcasts and audio productions, including budgets and external vendor coordination
  • Manage creative workflows from story development / pitch process through post-production 
  • Establish and maintain creative standards and formats for audio productions 
  • Edit and give notes on scripts and drafts in multiple languages
  • Manage editorial process and approvals with internal stakeholders and external vendors
  • Develop new audio products including podcasts and short form audio


Desired Skills:
  • At least 2-3 years experience working in an equivalent role producing daily or weekly audio productions such as podcasts or radio programming
  • Experience scripting or editing compelling, character-driven stories
  • Comfort with live producing panel discussions, event coverage or host interviews
  • Proficiency in audio mixing
  • High level of proficiency in speaking, writing and editing in Spanish and/or French
  • A strong interest in education, culture, science, and language 

Exceptional Candidates Will Have: 
  • Experience managing all aspects of producing a popular podcast 
  • Working proficiency in at least one additional language, especially Spanish, French, German, Italian, Chinese, or Japanese
  • A knowledge of best practices in podcast audio development 
  • Experience producing interactive storytelling experiences in new media formats
