Senior Community Strategist (Seattle)

Duolingo Events are designed and hosted by passionate language enthusiasts around the globe. They bring the fun and effectiveness of Duolingo’s online experience into the real world by immersing learners in target-language conversation and have scaled to 500+ events/week across 100+ countries. And we're not slowing down. 

We’re looking for an experienced, analytical, senior community leader to oversee the success of Duolingo Events. Bring your vision and passion for IRL programming, tech products, and complex user experiences to level up our current strategy and develop high-value new initiatives.

Types of Projects You'll Lead
  • Optimize current initiatives and launch new Event formats and features: Conduct research to identify user segments, build decision frameworks, track and analyze data to measure success 
  • Oversee the expansion of Duolingo Events’ internal organization: Strategically resource supply and demand-side growth, support, and quality needs at scale 
  • Attract and support high-quality hosts: Identify motivations, customize intake flows, and create unique onboarding journeys based on host styles/personas
  • Ensure coverage in key markets/languages: Work cross-functionally to run reports, build dashboards, analyze data (SQL, Salesforce), set KPIs, and execute impactful initiatives   
  • Build systems that signal top performing and lowest performing hosts: Craft programs to empower and reward the best, and standardize protocols to coach, investigate, and remove hosts who don’t meet the bar  
  • Recommend integrations with Duolingo’s core product: Explore opportunities to boost interactive learning, social proof, positive feedback loops, user touchpoints 
  • Ensure Events directly support strategic priorities of Duolingo: Identify and leverage how Duolingo’s different ecosystems (online/offline) serve different learner needs 
  • Articulate team progress and internal value: Create data visualizations, concise all-hands update emails, and compelling internal presentations

Experience You Need To Have
  • 8-10+ years experience launching and leading community programs that drive clear end results and directly impact wider business objectives (6+ years at management-level)
  • Experience leading teams, transforming decision-making processes, implementing dynamic solutions, and improving end-user experiences
  • A deep understanding of community-driven business models, community operations, and/or strategic partnerships 
  • Analytically minded with ability to demonstrate how metrics tell the story of the local member experience
  • Self-starter able to thrive in fast-paced, global, dynamic environments
  • Confident problem solver who operates as a solutions-oriented leader and teammate
  • Hands-on approach with a knack for rolling up your sleeves and getting things done (fast!)
  • Highly curious with a honed skill of framing issues and testing hypotheses
  • Succinct and persuasive written and verbal communicator with strong presentation skills 

Exceptional Candidates Have
  • An MBA
  • Fluency in more than one language 
  • Passion for combining community-systems-thinking with data analysis
  • A healthy blend of biz dev, growth, scale, and community expertise 
  • Experience managing and developing solutions-orientated and performance-driven teams
  • Experience working in a global environment with remote teams
