CFS is assisting our client, located in Katy, with their search for a Payroll Systems Manager role. This is a great opportunity for someone that possesses a strong systems background (Workday, Kronos).
The ideal candidate will be able to perform the duties listed below - with or without a bachelor's degree!
- Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day-day functions of payroll systems, team, and processes
- Accountable for payroll system(s) development and deployment project plans, providing contingency and problem resolution as required, ensuring sound implementation methodology is followed so high quality deliverables are achieved
- Drive policy development impacting payroll systems and contribute to the development and implementation of comprehensive communication and/or training materials
- Manage the optimization of efficient business process strategies for end-to-end processes to achieve efficiency, productivity, improved controls and/or to align with department/business goals
- Develop ad-hoc analysis and custom report development as needed/upon request by writing queries utilizing system delivered report writing tools
- Ensure payroll systems are configured and compliant with internal policies, payroll cycle processes, and that procedures and controls are compliant with all state and federal regulations as well as internal policy/audit requirements
- Lead activities relative to testing, training and support phases of upgrades or payroll system enhancements
- Maintain data accuracy, integrity and confidentiality within systems through regular review and data quality audits
- Represent Payroll at IT Change Advisory Board meetings and partner with IT business partners on all IT related projects impacting payroll systems
- Responsible for payroll systems configuration maintenance, interface file management, and data mapping analysis
- Responsible for regulatory reporting of payroll data
- Payroll processing support as needed during payroll cycle processing
- Manage inventory and maintenance of physical time clocks
- Ensure appropriate goals, feedback and coaching are in place to elevate team performance
- Lead, challenge and motivate team members and recognize others for their accomplishments
- Manage direct reports and oversee responsibilities for Payroll Systems team
- Required to learn company policies, procedures, and safety rules

Requirements:
- Experience is more important than the degree.
- CPP is a plus
- 5+ years of relevant work experience— to include a combination of staff management, payroll processing, data processing, HRIS system analysis, integration design and management, report/query design and development, and execution of system test scripts
- Prior experience participating in at least one HRIS upgrade highly desired – preferably experience that is payroll focused
- 2+ years of experience using Workday, with an emphasis on payroll, absence and reporting preferred
- 2+ years of experience using Kronos Timekeeping and/or Kronos Workforce Central (WFC)
- FPC/CPP Preferred
- Developed knowledge of payroll, accounting, systems, and math principles
- Established competence in system analysis and design
- Proficient in full cycle payroll processing, including multi-state payroll, and related data flow
- SQL experience preferred
