Position Summary:
DT Global is seeking Communications Assistant to support USAID’s Climate Ready project. The primary objective of Climate Ready is to assist Pacific Island countries to achieve their climate adaptation goals by supporting them to develop and implement climate action policies, plans and projects in a manner that is country-driven, coordinated, inclusive and equitable. The Communications Specialist is primarily responsible for the implementation of all communications related activities under the project inclusive of project image. The role includes project branding, media relations, public outreach, preparation of project fact sheets, briefing documents, media statements, project stories, videos and posts and providing communications support to team members and partners.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Oversee the project Communications and Marking and Branding strategy and activities related to project outreach
- Provide quality control on all marketing materials, and other project outreach documents generated from the project office with emphasis on those going to USAID
- Develop and maintain the program website and content, as appropriate
- Attend meetings with client and project partners on an ad hoc basis regarding communications, outreach, PR, and media related issues, and USAID branding and marking guidelines
- Assist technical staff with public outreach/awareness campaigns
- Develop press releases, success stories, and public event materials
- Prepare project promotional materials such as PowerPoint presentations, handouts and brochures
- Review the project deliverables and publications for adherence to the USAID Branding Guidelines
- Coordinate the copy-editing of project deliverables, when necessary
- Coordinate press invitations, draft invitation cards, and write the press releases for project events.
- Advise and work alongside team members on designing and implementing public awareness campaigns and communication tools dedicated to specific activities of the project
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or similar field
- At least 2-3 years of relevant experience, preferably with USAID or other donor programming
- Experience managing communication strategies and social media accounts, as well as creating content for dissemination
- Knowledge of USAID branding and marking regulations.
- Four or more years of experience of direct relevant professional experience.
- Experience developing success stories, press releases and other project communications materials.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Ability to multitask and complete tasks in a timely fashion.
- Experience writing program summaries, success stories, press releases, initiating story ideas and placement, and monitoring media coverage
- Written and spoken fluency in English
