Director, Story

Day One is looking for a Director of Story to join our Creative Strategy team. Our team is rapidly growing, so you should be comfortable (and flourish) in a deeply dynamic environment. We are looking for a team member with a solid foundation and proven track record of success in harnessing insights with new and varied channels to create opportunities for brands to connect with culture and make an impact. The Director of Story will serve a vital role at Day One– whether you are, leading ideation and direction or leading a team of writers and creative strategists, our team will depend on you for all things Creative Strategy.

This position is full time and only available in New York City.

Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will lead ideation and direct Creative Strategy work as it relates to storytelling. This role will act as a leader in defining how narrative and human understandings can come together with brand insights to help shape Day One Agency campaigns. 

  • Partner with leads across the agency to integrate storytelling into all of our initiatives
  • Provide oversight on ideation, content strategy, and execution alongside production, communications and digital strategy leads
  • Stretch our team’s and our clients’ approach to creative executions
  • Bring fresh thinking and collaborative spirit to team when developing work
  • Build and nurture a team of creative and strategic minds
  • Take consumer insights and turn them into creative ideas
  • Multitask and prioritize workload with quick turnarounds 
  • Present concepts and work closely with clients, applying creative solutions to strategic business problems
  • Iterate and evolve concepts with constructive feedback

Requirements

  • 7-10 years relevant experience as part of a creative team.
  • 2+ years in a role overseeing a team and leading campaigns 
  • Strong network of freelance writers, makers, and creative talent 
  • Familiarity designing across platforms from digital, print, and experiential
