HR Specialist

TITLE: Human Resources Specialist

Working under direction from the General Manager and Board of Directors, the Human resources specialist will create processes, procedures and documentation to improve and reorganize existing HR Department, manage the employee hiring process, consult with members of the management team to ensure that the right candidates are being placed into the right position and administer employee benefits programs.


  • Preparing or updating employment records related to hiring, transferring, promoting, and terminating
  • Implementing and re-enforcing human resources policies, procedures, laws, and standards to new and existing employees
  • Ensuring new hire paperwork is completed and processed
  • Addressing any employment relations issues, such as work complaints and harassment allegations
  • Processing all personnel action forms and ensuring proper approval
  • Overseeing hiring process, which includes coordinating job posts, reviewing resumes, and performing reference checks.
  • Implementing the organization’s recruiting strategy
  • Interviewing applicants
  • Administering pre-employment tests
  • Assisting with completing background investigations
  • Processing transfers, promotions, and terminations
  • Conducting training sessions
  • Analyzing job duties & Writing job descriptions
  • Performing job evaluations and job analyses
  • Conducting and analyzing compensation surveys
  • Assisting with processing employee grievances / complaints
  • Overseeing engagement programs and other employee relations work
  • Developing and administering health and safety programs
  • Preparing government reports as to remain in compliance


  • 5 or more years experience in a Human Resources role
  • Experience administering benefits packages and enrollment
  • Experience creating and managing employee handbooks and procedures


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources AND/OR 5+ years of relevant work experience 
  • HR Certification
