Title:  Accountant / Bookkeeper  

The role of the Accountant / Bookkeeper involves providing financial, administrative and clerical support to the organisation. Their role is to complete payments and control expenses by receiving payments, plus processing, verifying and reconciling invoices. 

Duties and responsibilities:

As a vital team member of the finance team you will:

  • Keep track of all payments, receivables and expenditures, including payroll, purchase orders, invoices, statements, etc.
  • 5+ years experience as a Staff Accountant
  • Analyze accounts
  • Manage inventory / inventory control
  • Journal entries
  • Month-end
  • Budget variance - Budget vs Actual
  • Reconciling processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
  • Maintaining historical records
  • Prepare monthly Sales tax reporting
  • Audit P & L statements
  • Paying employees by verifying expense reports and preparing pay checks
  • Paying vendors by scheduling pay checks and ensuring payment is received for outstanding credit; generally responding to all vendor inquiries regarding finance
  • Preparing analyses of accounts and producing monthly reports
  • Continuing to improve the payment process

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with a focus in: Finance or Economics, Business Studies or Accounting
  • Experience using QuickBooks
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role required
