Finance Director

Credit Kudos is a fintech challenger credit bureau that uses financial behaviour to measure creditworthiness. Our technology transforms the way credit checking and credit scores work by using Open Banking to generate a more accurate and holistic view of a borrower's creditworthiness. We’ve raised over £7.5 million from leading institutional investors and power 60+ lenders in the UK and EU to make better, fairer credit decisions.

We are looking for an experienced Finance Director to lead financial strategy planning and execution, including efficiently managing KPIs and overseeing accounting processes. The Finance Director must be well-versed in all aspects of financial management including accounting, budgeting and forecasting, and performance measurement. This will be the most senior finance role in the business to date, leading and overseeing the financial department and strategies and presenting to the Board. With stellar performance, we’ll be looking to promote the Finance Director to become CFO of the company within 18 months.

What you will do:
  • Drive financial planning, including designing processes and performance measurements
  • Support the expansion of business KPI tracking; analyse key trends across the businesses and provide monthly reports and recommendations
  • Manage the processes for financial forecasting and budgets, and overseeing the preparation of financial reporting
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO, board, and members of the executive management team
  • Develop and support the organisation’s fundraising plans and capital structure
  • Support the budget process with preparation of financial reports for strategic and business planning purposes; prepare monthly business review reports to identify results, trends, forecast and variance to budget
  • Provide leadership, direction and management of the finance function
  • Oversee year end processes including review of all accounts/balance sheets to final submission of Statutory accounts
  • Monitor and manage working capital on a monthly basis and ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organisation’s operations and expansion plans
  • Advise on businesses strategies and new geographic opportunities considering cash and liquidity risks
What you’ll have:
  • Fully qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACA/or equivalent) with a least 5 years post qualification experience   
  • Strong focus on controls and processes and a high attention to detail
  • Understanding of external reporting requirements and internal performance reporting frameworks
  • Up-to-date technical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – engaging with colleagues daily and presenting information clearly, particularly for non-financial individuals
  • Ability to form a commercial story and communicate to senior management at the appropriate level
  • Proven ability to develop close working relationships with peer diverse departments
  • Keen ambition to grow and develop as the business continues to expand
  • Optional but desired:  Experience raising institutional capital through VC, PE, or M&A
