High Silver Machine Operator (1st Shift)
Summary
Sets up and operates the extrusion, drawing, shear cutting, spooling and ring making equipment by following company policies and standard operating procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
General
Uses all safety equipment on machinery as well as all personal protective equipment properly.
Demonstrates general shop floor safety.
Demonstrates excellent attendance.
Fills out daily production reports detailing work activity as well as any other paperwork required per procedures.
Uses appropriate measurement equipment to confirm product characteristics.
Operates material handling equipment.
Extrusion Equipment
Demonstrates Extrusion safety
Uses and interprets precision measuring instruments.
Uses hand tools to set-up and operate extrusion equipment
Inspects various extrusion components
Completes minor maintenance tasks of extrusion equipment
Operates extrusion equipment with varying controls while ensuring quality
Troubleshoots and corrects process problems
Respools wire while operating the extrusion presses.
Makes boxes for cutter operators
Drawing Equipment
Demonstrates Drawing safety
Uses hand tools to setup drawing equipment
Inspects various drawing components
Completes minor maintenance tasks on drawing equipment
Operates drawing equipment with varying controls while ensuring quality
Troubleshoots and corrects for process problems for drawing
Shear Cutting Equipment
Demonstrates safety while operating shear cutters.
Uses hand tools to set-up and adjust shear cutting equipment.
Inspects various shear cutter parts.
Rebuilds sub assemblies on shear cutting equipment.
Completes minor maintenance tasks on shear cutters.
Operates multiple shear cutters with varying controls while packaging quality product.
Troubleshoots and corrects process problem on shear cutters.
Spooling Equipment
Demonstrates spooling safety.
Uses hand tools to set-up spooling equipment.
Completes minor maintenance tasks on the spooling equipment.
Operates spooling equipment and packages quality product.
Level lays spooling wire
Sets up and operates shrink wrapper.
Troubleshoots and corrects process problems on the spooler.
Ring Making Equipment
Demonstrates ring making safety.
Uses hand tools to set-up ring making equipment.
Completes minor maintenance tasks on ring making equipment.
Operates ring making equipment and packages quality product.
Troubleshoots and corrects process problems on ring making equipment.
Packaging
Makes various sample kits.
Fills UPS and Truck Orders.
Manually cuts coils.
Packs all finished products.
Identifies and rejects non-conforming wire.
Operates various scales.
Operates tube label machine.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
