Associate Attorney
Coye Law Firm is interviewing lawyers who are members of the Florida Bar, are either new graduates or have been practicing for less than three years. You’ve graduated law school and actually did quite well, perhaps were on moot court or law review, or even a journal, of course you passed the bar, maybe worked for someone part time or maybe even full time, but are still not quite sure what it really takes to actually run a law practice as a business. Law School doesn’t teach you to practice law and few law firms will spend the money and time (notice which one comes first?) to teach you what it takes to succeed practicing law. This is not a position for someone whose goal is to work a tad more than 40 hours and have many days off. You must have worked hard in school because we really are only interested if you have demonstrated that with your grades, your place on law review or your performance in Moot Court. In addition, we are looking for rapid adapters of technology and creative ways of thinking in the office space. Attorney must have analytical skills on cases and good judgement ability. We have multiple practices including personal injury, workers’ compensation, social security/disability, veterans affairs, family law, and probate.
To succeed in this outstanding opportunity to learn the fundamentals of case intake, case development, case handling and conclusion, we need someone who is
- Organized - you can’t practice law handling a case load unless you are organized
- Adaptable - handling diverse matters competently requires flexibility in your thinking and performance
- Personable - you have to identify with clients in order to represent them proficiently
- Collaborative - You must be able to work with a team that oftentimes may have a weak link- working with a team does mean someone makes final decisions
- A leader - Ultimately will be you at some point in your career.
- Hard working - drive is key to succeeding in the office and helping people
- Technology inclined - to learn new applications that are used in the office; knowing the following applications is a plus:
G-suite - including, doc’s sheets, drive
