MEDICAL DIRECTOR / SENIOR MEDICAL DIRECTOR (Remote)

POSITION: MEDICAL DIRECTOR / SENIOR MEDICAL DIRECTOR
 
OVERVIEW 
We are looking for a physician with oncology expertise who can provide clinical leadership on a variety of issues, whether simple or complex, routine or strategic. The ideal candidate has actively practiced oncology for 3+ years. He or she is knowledgeable about current issues impacting cancer care from clinical, practice, research, and analytic perspectives. This is a key position that will report to the CMO, provide clinical leadership on a day-to-day basis, and will work closely with other senior management.
  
RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Independently function as a clinical oncology resource in the office, addressing questions that may arise from the abstraction, technology, product, and analytics teams
  • Support team in developing and answering clinically relevant questions using Cota’s clinical, genomic, and claims datasets 
  • Support, mentor, and manage junior clinical staff 
  • Provide clinical leadership for key strategic initiatives and partnerships
  • Others, depending on interests, experience, and expertise
  
 REQUIREMENTS 
  • M.D. or equivalent degree
  • 3+ years of oncology clinical practice experience
  • Ability to research challenging clinical questions
  • Deep knowledge of contemporary issues facing oncology practice
  • Familiarity with oncology IT systems used for patient care
  • Demonstrated successful organizational and communication skills, creativity   problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to function effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, diverse environment including collaborating with external physicians and senior executives
  • Must be a self-starter who can work autonomously
  • Must possess the ability to prioritize assignments to meet required deadlines
  • Must be approachable, friendly, and effective as a team leader and participant
 
BROWNIE POINTS 
  • Master’s or doctoral degree in a quantitative field
  • Work experience in medical informatics, data science, biostatistics, or a related discipline
  • Prior industry experience
  • Prior client support experience
  • Prior product development experience 
  • Prior leadership experience
  • Broad healthcare knowledge base and comfort level that would enable work in fields beyond oncology
  • Experience in one or more of healthcare administration, informatics, quality oversight, clinical/health services research, or healthcare data analytics
