Drilling Engineer

The Drilling Engineer is based in Houston at Corva’s headquarters to provide operational and technical sales support for Corva.  The Engineer works closely with the operations center and reviews data to build analytical dashboards to illustrate trends and provide insight.  The Engineer performs QAQC checks and makes recommendations to customers.  The Engineer also coordinates the customers’ requirements for new functionality and makes presentations as needed.  The engineer must be highly self-motivated and passionate about adding value for customers and helping shape their drilling future.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Run engineering models and analytics as required
  • Optimize drilling performance for customers
  • Frequently working with both Corva’s and customer’s teams
  • Provide technical demonstrations of the Corva software for sales and training purposes
  • Utilize data to identify inhibitors and value drivers in drilling programs
  • Communicate with customers to resolve issues as needed
  • Work in customers’ offices and on rig sites as required
  • Review data and trends to identify value-add insight to customers
  • Customize Corva demonstrations for customers 
  • Serve as customer point of contact 
  • Organize quarterly business reviews with customer
  • Ensure all work is prioritized and completed correctly
  • Identify various types of data quality issues through regular QAQC checks and follow procedures to correct issues
  • Identify anomalies and problematic data 
  • Prepare written reports weekly regarding operations and QAQC status
  • Ensure proper operation of the web-based system through continuous checks
  • Provide testing of staged systems prior to deployment
  • Identify and communicate opportunities to improve efficiencies in operations
  • Develop industry white papers and make presentations
  • Be on call for solving data issues as required
  • 30% travel required, to customers offices around the country
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications and Skills
Required:
  • Working knowledge of drilling software
  • Minimum of 5 (five) years in drilling industry
  • Four-year engineering degree from accredited University
  • Ability to present effectively to groups of people
  • Extensive knowledge of drilling systems data including drill string and BHA configurations, bits, mud motors,     casing, fluid checks and summary data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work well with teams effectively
  • Thorough knowledge of navigating modern web sites 
  • Analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to identify anomalies and problem data
  • Ability to train others
