    What you’ll do
    For more than four decades, Corporate Accountability has moved millions of people to challenge corporate power through groundbreaking campaigns that win victories for health, human rights, democracy, and the planet. Far-reaching media -- paired with strategic grassroots organizing -- are at the core of what we do. They’re how we’ve won hearts and minds around the globe to build a world free of corporate abuse. They’ve fueled our significant growth over the last five years as we’ve taken on the fossil fuel industry, water privatizers, Big Food, and Big Tobacco. And they’re key to building even more power. 

    That’s where you come in. We’re looking for someone to help us expand our team to go bigger and bolder in securing groundbreaking, widespread media coverage that exposes corporate abuse and motivates people to take action with us. You will thrive if you are excited about, and good at, engaging with reporters to make sure our analysis and campaigns make headlines around the world. That means becoming an expert on the many facets of corporate abuse, Corporate Accountability’s campaigns, and the corporate accountability movement, finding creative ways to connect and build relationships with journalists and thought leaders online, via phone, and in person, and crafting and driving compelling media and digital content from start to finish.
    You’ll do it all by partnering with a broad, cross-organizational team collaborating to craft the exact right messages and get them out into the world. And through it all, you’ll keep essential systems running to make sure we meet our deadlines, produce the best content possible, and build the deep, meaningful relationships that are key to building a better future for all people. 
    Who you are
    • The rampant abuses of corporations and the outrageous amount of power they have make you mad as hell -- and you want to do something about it.

    • You understand that changing the imbalance of power in the world, its inherent racial injustice, and the oppression people of color experience is central to your work for justice. You have a commitment to advancing racial equity and transforming systems of oppression.

    • You’re a tenacious organizer and communicator. You know social change happens person to person -- so you’re not afraid to strike up conversation with a stranger, direct message someone on Twitter, or hop on the phone to pitch a reporter on their next big story. You can build relationships with integrity and build power for global change with people from diverse backgrounds.

    • You are highly organized and have solid experience managing projects from start to finish, meeting deadlines, and managing both up and laterally to get what you need. You appreciate elegant and effective processes and are passionate about creating and implementing them. And when something doesn’t go as planned, you’re ready to adapt to changes and challenges and adjust to get back on track.

    • You’ve got writing skills. You know how to distill complex issues into a simple, persuasive argument -- and you can tweak that argument for different audiences in different contexts. Your strong attention to detail ensures your copy is clean and nearly error-free every time. And you consistently seek and implement feedback to improve your craft as you go.

    • You thrive on social media. You’ve got experience managing social media accounts, executing social media strategy, and/or creating content for social media platforms. You get excited about finding new ways to reach people and inspire them to action.

    • You have at least one year of communications, media outreach, organizing, or other relevant experience.

    • Bonus: You are fluent in Spanish and/or French.
    What you’ll be responsible for in the day-to-day
    • Pitch media events, stories, and analysis of breaking news to journalists across the U.S. and around the world.

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with reporters and thought leaders, and work with your team of spokespeople to do the same—whether that’s traveling to get coffee with them in person, talking on the phone, commenting on their social media posts, or anything in between.

    • Maintain a comprehensive reporter database and hone other administrative systems, including files, records, and creation of media-related fundraising tools. You’ll also monitor, analyze, and track earned media and news developments relevant to our campaigns and mission.

    • Draft, edit, and proof a range of media and digital copy, like pitch memos, advisories, press releases, blog posts, op-eds, and social media posts.

    • Project manage content creation from start to finish, including collaborating with people from across the organization to identify the most compelling content, drafting tight copy, shepherding it through editing, reviewing, and proofreading, and organizing to ensure your communications reach as many people as possible in the world.

    • Participate in organization-wide planning, fundraising, recruitment, and campaign activities.
    Salary and benefits: 
    • Salary range: $42,900 - $48,800, commensurate with experience.  
    • Our comprehensive benefit package includes health insurance (with 90% of the premium for all tiers covered by the organization) and dental coverage (with 100% of the individual premium covered by the organization and the option to add dependents at an additional cost); FSA for transit, health care, and dependent care; and 401(k) with employer match.
