Assistant Project Managers support the Project Managers with management of construction projects from planning & development through project completion and working on a wide variety of important commercial projects of various scopes and types. Your primary responsibilities include:
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain working relationships with Clients, Consultants and other agencies of the project team
- Plan and implement all procurement of materials and services for each project
- Create scope of work assignments for each subcontractor & vendor
- Assist Project Manager with weekly reporting and document control
- Assist with creation and maintenance of project schedules
- Update the schedule as required by the Contract or as directed by the Project Manager.
- Assist with short-range scheduling by confirming manpower, material deliveries, or supplier availability.
- Prepare change proposals, negotiate change orders, initiate change orders (at Project Managers or Project Director’s approval)
- Maintain project communication hierarchy and protocol between project team
- Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
- Experience with the development and maintenance of project schedules.
- Have a strong familiarity with job cost information.
- Must have the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a variety of practical situations
- Knowledge of construction methods and processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Review projects in field a needed
- Quality Control
- Schedule and attend job meetings when necessary
- Create and participate in Project closeout procedures
- Ability to travel to projects as needed
Qualifications
- 2 years previous experience preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Strong Leadership and planning skills
- Strong project management skills including ability to schedule, estimate and write contracts
- Strong analysis and critical thinking skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Deadline and detail-oriented
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in managing all aspects of the commercial building process
