Staff Accountant

Since its launch in 2005, Community Impact Newspapers has restructured an antiquated model—the community newspaper—and turned it into an essential tool by providing readers with useful, informative news.

The position of Staff Accountant will play an important role within a small self-motivated team that is focused on integrity of financial information, continual process improvement and driving profitability through collaboration with other departments.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • 1-3 years of general accounting experience
  • Experience with accounting software; Proficiency in NetSuite a plus

Essential Job Functions:
  • Handle full-cycle Accounts Payable duties
  • Review monthly credit card expense reports
  • Responsible for timely completion of assigned month-end close activities
  • Compile and analyze financial data to prepare journal entries to general ledger accounts
  • Analyze and review accounting data for reasonableness and material errors
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations
  • Performing ad-hoc reporting and analysis as needed
  • Maintain positive working relationships with clients and staff
  • Understand and adhere to the policies and procedures of Community Impact Newspaper
  • Exercise independent discretion and judgment in methods and mediums for promoting the company to readers, community leaders, news sources, and the general public
