Human Resources Business Partner

Coding Dojo is looking for a driven Human Resources Business Partner. This position is a true generalist and will be very hands on. The HRBP is both a strategic and hands-on collaborator that provides Human Resources support to both a core and a multi-location team. The position is critical in executing our people initiatives, providing great internal and external customer support and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement. The HRBP is a champion of culture change, a mentor and leader, coaching managers in development of others, challenging the status quo, and offering creative solutions to business issues.

Culture & Diversity:
  • Build and reinforce a company culture from our organically created foundation of values

HR Compliance:
  • Maintain personnel files
  • Ensure handbook is up to date with most recent regulations
  • Manage/conduct ongoing compliance trainings for managers (I-9, anti-harassment, safety)

Nice to haves
The following are key components of the role, but are secondary to the above. We understand that nobody is perfect, and are more than willing to assist with the following for the right person. 

  • Process semi-monthly payroll, including expense reimbursements
  • Conduct ongoing salary analysis for positions across all locations and provide recommendations
  • Work with payroll vendor to ensure all required payroll filings have been submitted
  • Automate administrative tasks so that they take limited time from your workflow

Benefit Administration:  
  • Lead annual benefit renewal 
  • Conduct benefit orientations for new employees
  • Manage enrollments using online tool
  • Audit invoices on a monthly basis
  • Terminate benefits upon employee exit and initiate COBRA notifications
  • Participate in ongoing review of benefit program and make recommendations on enhancing offerings
Employee Relations:
  • Work with managers on employee relations concerns and provide recommendations
  • Be a coach/mentor for new managers, guiding and supporting in training processes and procedures
  • Spearhead a performance review process for all employees, including goal-setting and career-planning
  • Lead a cost of living analysis to ensure fair pay to all employees, concerning local cost of living and marketplace value 
  • Standardize processes and procedures concerning HR and its related lanes, including hiring, on-boarding, and training methodologies 

  • Take ownership of an efficient and effective workflow for all company wide recruitment
  • Post open positions through ATS and external recruiting websites, update company website with open positions
  • Conduct initial phone screen calls with candidates
  • Schedule interviews for hiring manager and interview participants
  • Extend offers and manage on-boarding process

And while we hire people, not resumes, here's an idea of what we'd like to see in our ideal candidate: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Human Resources Management
  • At least three years of experience in a HR generalist capacity
  • Strong understanding of benefit administration such as medical, dental, vision, FSA and 401(k) programs
  • Proficiency in Paychex applications (Flex, BeneTrac, Time and Attendance, HRIS)
  • Experience supporting remote locations, including a strong understanding of multiple state regulations
  • Knowledge of different types of leave programs
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff
  • Ability to multi-task, setting appropriate priorities while ensuring that all deadlines are honored
