Career Advisor - Chicago

DESCRIPTION:
The Career Advisors work tirelessly to help students meet their career goals and connect our employer partners with top development talent graduating from our bootcamp program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Prepare students for success by providing coaching in all aspects of their job search including job search strategies, personal marketing, interview skills, resume writing, networking, and more
·       Maintain contact with alumni and students who are seeking employment placement assistance
·       Develop and maintain relationships with employers for the purposes of job placement of graduates
·       Participate in campus activities including, but not limited to: orientation, career fairs, open houses, class presentations, student events, and graduation, professional development seminars, workshops, and the portfolio process
·       Increase job opportunities and internship leads through phone calls and face to face meetings, escalating high level partnerships to the Vice President.   We will also look to you to increase program opportunities to facilitate networking between alumni and companies  
·       Build career outreach programs such as job fairs, career programs, and employer panels, working closely with marketing and PR 
·       Engage with employers, community members, and businesses to secure volunteers to serve as guest speakers, portfolio reviewers, and mock interviewers 
·       Gather and report metrics regarding placement, partnership pipeline, and recruitment activity

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 3-5 years’ experience working in a career services or recruiting role
  • Experience providing career development counseling
  • High touch communication skills with the ability to easily speak across all levels of an organization to strategically fulfill needs of partners and Coding Dojo. 
  • Extremely organized, able to build/track reports in Excel and capable of the startup ‘hustle’
  • Deep roots, comprehension, and connections with the local tech community  
  • Resourceful; ability to make magic happen with limited resources 
  • Able to prioritize, delegate, and communicate priorities 
  • Data conscious.  Consistently focused on tracking the progress of every single student and graduate
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with outside sales/job development/outreach/public relations 
  • Strong recruiting or sales background that can included 2-5 years in staffing, business development, or partnerships experience in education and/or tech a plus
