JOB SUMMARY
Code.org is looking for a leader of our curriculum team to manage and develop our K-12 computer science curriculum pathway; lead the team that creates our core courses including
CS Fundamentals (K-5),
CS Discoveries (6-10) and
CS Principles (9-12), manage partnerships with other computer science curriculum providers, and support the development of Code.org’s
Hour of Code tutorials. We’re looking for someone whose educational philosophy is strongly aligned to our
curriculum values, and is committed to empowering the team to continuously improve their approach to these values.
In this role, you will also partner internally with product and engineering teams to create the website and tools that support the curriculum and with the professional learning team to support our teachers. You’ll work with our outreach team, partners and the CS education community to align our curriculum development to teacher, school and district needs.
In this role you will:
- Manage the vision and execution of our full K-12 curriculum pathway.
- Support the curriculum team to identify and incorporate best practices around equity and pedagogy into curriculum resources.
- Prioritize and align workflows with our product, engineering, professional learning, and outreach teams.
- Support the workload, growth, and professional development of a team of 5-7 curriculum team members
- Develop and support a vision around how Code.org can best support and partner with external curriculum providers to develop and scale new computer science curriculum.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Our ideal candidate has strong leadership, writing, and communication skills; has experience designing, developing, and writing computer science curriculum to standards; effectively prioritizes projects and supports their team; and can develop strong collaborative relationships with other CS education providers and organizations.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Working knowledge of best practices in pedagogy and equitable curriculum design
- Comprehensive knowledge of computer science, including the concepts covered in the K-12 CS Framework and introductory college level CS courses
- Experience creating and managing partnerships with other organizations
- Prior collaborative curriculum writing / activity design
- K-12 teaching experience
- Experience managing teams
Additional desired experiences include:
- Connections with CS teachers and the broader community of CS educators
- Exposure to the CSTA Computer Science Standards, CS Principles Framework, state CS standards and/or K-12 CS Framework
- Familiarity with Code.org’s curriculum and platform offerings
- Facilitation and/or professional learning design
- Bachelors, masters, or other degree in education
This job requires flexibility to travel 10% of your working time per year (conferences, meeting partners, etc.).
