Junior Mechanical Engineer

An exciting opportunity exists in our Burnaby research facility for an energetic and committed Junior Mechanical Engineer (EIT). The successful candidate will get exposure to all aspects of the design process as well as support projects in terms of Engineering, data collection/processing, and coordination.
 
Responsibilities will include:

  • Mechanical and process equipment specification
  • Mechanical design calculations (pressure drop, heat transfer etc.)
  • 3D modeling of equipment
  • Generation of fabrication drawings
  • Equipment and materials procurement
  • Data collection in laboratory as required
  • Assistance with equipment assembly as required
 
Skills and Experience:

  • Mechanical design
  • Piping systems design
  • Machining, fabrication, and assembly
  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics is beneficial
Projects will be based mainly out of our industrial laboratory facility in Burnaby. However, there are also potential opportunities for fieldwork and travel to our Edmonton branch or clients’ facilities based on project requirements. The candidate must thrive in a team-oriented environment, as well as work well independently.
 
Qualification requirements:

  • B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Able to register as an EIT with APEGBC
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
