Aerospace/Controls Engineer

Aerospace/Controls Engineer position in support of the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center. Requires an understanding and application of Guidance, Navigation & Control (GN&C) Systems with the requisite expertise in the determination of vehicle flight dynamics, interactions between a pilot & the control system, and evaluation of flying/handling qualities. Participates with teams of engineers in conducting research activities to include monitoring and reporting the status and progress of work. Formulates linear and non-linear models of vehicles and subsystems for use in stability analysis programs and in real-time or batch simulations. Develops aerospace vehicle simulations to analyze nonlinear control systems with pilot-in-the-loop control. Identifies research experiments that will advance the state-of-the-art in vehicle dynamics analysis, control law methods, and flight test techniques. Determine and maintain a thorough understanding of the stability and control characteristics of unique flight vehicles across broad flight envelopes. Conducts research and evaluations into the flight characteristics and un-piloted vehicles. This could include analysis such as Aircraft-Pilot Coupling or Pilot-Induced Oscillations.
