Sustainability Coordinator

Objective

Sustainability Coordinator, Full Time Equivalent (FTE) on-site at Haskell Indian Nations University

Essential Functions
    
  • Prior experience working with American Indian/Alaska Native college students in environmental science areas and experience in areas of soil sampling, forestry, recycling projects and curriculum development.
  • Experience working with Tribes or other affiliated American Indian communities, businesses or organizations.
  • Experience with project management and assessments.
  • Applicant must be a United States citizen.
  • Experience with networking and scientific presentations at regional and national conferences.
  • The individual must have a federal background security clearance.

Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Ecology, Biology, Engineering or other Natural Sciences from an accredited college or university is preferred.

The selected candidate shall possess: 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills working with teams.
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office software suite, including Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Thorough knowledge of personal computer systems (PC and/or Macintosh).
  • Professional work environment related to various phases of planning.
  • Knowledge not required, but desired:
  • Experience in CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and ArcGIS.
  • Working knowledge of planning products and planning principles, concepts, methodologies, rules, and regulations
  • Proficiency in Google G Suite – Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar.
  • Proficiency in MS Project
 
Special Qualifications: All candidates shall reflect a high level of knowledge and experience in working with American Indian/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiians, training, policy, research, American Indian/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian affairs, cultural resources, contracting, and environmental sciences

 Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is anticipated to be a full time position.  

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although limited overnight travel may be expected.
